It has been a busy couple of weeks. The second-to-last weekend in January we took a break from Snowboarding to just relax and get things done around home, but it turned into a three week break. The weekend after that, we got word that Kenji’s grandfather had died, so that weekend and the next were spent doing family stuff and funeral stuff. But this past weekend we went for a Valentine’s Day trip, and also the 11th was a holiday so we had some fun then too. So I’ll update with those posts soon, and this is just to cover some random things going on lately.

Mmmm, curry. Indian food can be expensive, but is well worth it! Man, Indian food is the best. Of course, I say that with any food I eat, but…

After a warm winter last year, this one is turning out cold and snowy, even in Fujioka! This is the result of a night of snow during one night that Kenji was in Kanagawa. I have pictures of it snowing the night before, but they didn’t turn out well.

Walking to school was interesting though… I had to be careful to avoid the ice patches! Everything was really pretty though… the snow is steaming in the morning sun in the second picture if you can tell…

The mountains of Fujioka with powder on them… a rare sight!

Kids walking to school… these two stopped to play in the snow!

Kenji had left for Kanagawa the Saturday we heard the news, and I was going to come down Tuesday evening for a ceremony, with the funeral on Wednesday. He hadn’t been getting good sleep and I couldn’t stay at his aunt and uncle’s house, so we looked around for a hotel and ended up getting an amazing deal on a super nice hotel on the beach, in a suite no less! Yay for low-season prices! We left Kanagawa Wednesday evening to make work in the morning, and it was snowing really hard when we hit Tokyo, which is also really rare.

The view from our hotel room in the morning… the suite was huge, it was really relaxing!

Plum blossoms beginning to bloom, reminding us that spring is on the way!
