This post is for all my flower and extra hanami pictures I’ve taken this past month! There are a LOT!

A local shrine, right before sakura season really hits:

The end for these pink flowers!

One day during spring vacation Kenji and I drove around the area to see some of the blossoms. Here are some pictures from that day:

Nanakoshinyama kofun, not quite at full bloom. We grabbed pizza for lunch and ate it in the sun, then checked out the blossoms.

Not full but still pretty!

And even a video! (click to watch)

After the kofun, we went to a park near the city that is popular with bbqs in the summer.

…and stopped by this pretty flower garden on the way back!

Also on the way back, we stopped at a small shrine with some gorgeous blossoms. It was good timing, as the priest was escorting a guest out, and stopped to talk with us. We were invited inside, and talked with him for over an hour! He also served us some great hibiscus tea called “amacha”, and invited us back for dinner one day.

These plums couldn’t decide what color to be!

Also took a walk around a pretty pond area!

Walking home from school one day, I stopped at the tiny monument on the main road.

The purple and yellow flowers are starting as well!

Finally full!

This same place is especially pretty at night.

April 10th in the morning we took the opportunity to see Nanakoshinyama again in full bloom, before we were to leave with Scott and Naomi for a balloon show in Tochigi (next post!)

The view from our apartment, sakura explosion!

Hey, Brandt and Mizuki! Guess we weren’t the only ones with that idea!

Waiting for Scott and Naomi to pick up their nieces for the trip, we checked out a tiny kofun near the house.

This one is unique because you can actually see inside!

Finally, the end of the season comes with a rain of sakura petals falling and piling up on the ground:

I played with them for awhile!

Sakura season is over, and the trees have lost most of their petals. Things are starting to turn bright green, and I wait eagerly for the next flower season… fuji!
